Available to any staff member within one of the TaMHS Schools. The course is to be delivered over two full days with 12 participants. It is delivered in a relaxed and informal manner allowing and encouraging participants to feel comfortable, contribute to discussion, maximising enjoyment and learning. The whole course uses a mixture of learning styles e.g. work in pairs, groups, case studies, flip chart exercises, videos etc. The first day will cover the introduction to the course, including good mental health and the difference between health and illness and how to look after your mental health. It will then cover the signs and symptoms of depression, the first aid response and treatment and resources for depression. In the afternoon the course will cover suicide and suicide prevention. The aim is to raise awareness and dispel the myths about the subject hopefully developing empathy and sensitivity to the area. The second day has a very similar format and objectives but covering Anxiety in the morning and Psychosis in the afternoon. Lunch will be provided |
