Event description:

With the new Ofsted School Inspection Framework and the Evaluation Schedule of Judgements placing greater emphasis on safeguarding, including bullying, all schools will need to ensure that their Anti-Bullying Policy has been revised and that they have evidence of the effectiveness of their anti-bullying practice.

The Workshop will be led by John Stead, the Anti-Bullying Alliance Regional Adviser and Val Puncher, N.E. Lincs interim Anti-Bullying Co-ordinator.  John is funded by the DCSF, and is working with North-East Lincs to help provide support to schools.

The workshop is based on the requirements outlined in the DCSF "Safe to Learn: Embedding anti-bullying work in schools", DCSF "Bullying: Charter for Action" and Healthy Schools "Anti-Bullying Guidance for Schools". It will address:

* What makes school pupils feel "safe from bullying" - evidence from research
* Reviewing the school Anti-Bullying Policy
* Collecting and analysing data, including recording bullying incidents
*Assessment of school anti-bullying policy and practice - using ABA School Anti-Bullying Assessment Toolkit and Healthy Schools "Anti-Bullying Guidance for Schools"

All participating schools will receive copies of ABA Guidance Papers:

* Developing and reviewing the school policy - meeting the school's responsibilities
* Intervention - school strategies for responding to bullying incidents
* Bullying: data collection and analysis in schools

Schools participating in the Workshop will be expected to send the appropriate senior member of staff and where appropriate a member of staff with specific responsibility for anti-bullying in school.
