Reforming and Developing the Children's Workforce in Schools

Leading Professional Learning In North East Lincolnshire
Further to the highly successful Leading Professional Learning course which was led by Lindi Holbrook and David Thomas (ex-head teachers) - this free training course is going to run again!
The course is funded through Schools Workforce Development and the next cohort commences on 28th January 2010 and completes on 31st March 2010. The course runs over three days and are spread over a three month period.
The objective of the course is to provide a blended learning opportunity including face to face sessions and in school development opportunities, it offers usable tools and processes to underpin professional learning and addresses the challenges which are faced in schools for the achievement of effective professional development. And much more! It is targeted at leaders of professional learning (CPD leaders) from Primary, Secondary and Special schools.
David highlighted that “the course included the intrinsic motivation and development of the participants as learners but as one of those who planned and delivered the course, I felt that the dialogue and deep professional debate that proceeded ensured that facilitators as well delegates moved forward together.”
He continued “by supplying colleagues with tools and skills they were more ably resourced to take others forward with them and to impact on the culture of their own schools. Very positive feedback indicated that delegates felt ‘inspired and challenged’ and that they felt better equipped to enhance the learning environment in their own establishments for adults as well as children.”
Lindi added “during the second run of the course it is hoped to reach a wider audience of colleagues who are key figures in encouraging the perception of their school as a learning community. The course is equally appropriate for schools who are already established and perhaps wish to refocus or re-energise their commitment to high quality professional development or to newly amalgamated schools who may still be establishing their ethos.”
Previous delegates used – encouraging, fun, constructive – to describe the course.
The Schools Workforce Development Service are able to provide this training thanks to funding received from the Training and Development Agency (TDA).
